Many postcard collectors enjoy collecting cards that belong to a particular theme. You might want to collect flags of all countries, postcards featuring cats, cards from a particular artist, or a series of postcards designed as a set.
Keeping track of such collections can be challenging, especially when a series contains many different postcards and you need to remember which ones you already have and which ones you are still looking for.
The Series feature on Cardzilla is designed to make this easier. It gives you a structured way to collect postcards belonging to a series, see which cards you already have, and track your progress toward completing the collection.
A Series is a collection of postcards united by a common theme. Each series contains a list of postcards that belong to it.
For example, a series called Flags of the World might contain one postcard for each country, featuring that country's national flag. To complete the series, you need to collect every postcard in it.
Some series are connected to specific countries. In the example above, each postcard is associated with the country whose flag it depicts. If you want to collect a particular country's flag, you need to obtain that postcard from the country it represents.
Other series do not have country-specific requirements. In that case, you can obtain the postcards from anywhere, regardless of which country they are sent from.
Each series has its own list of postcards, so you can see exactly what belongs to the collection and what you still need to find.
The Series feature can be used independently of the other parts of Cardzilla. You do not need to send postcards through Cardzilla, participate in direct swaps, or use any other exchange features.
Simply register on Cardzilla and start keeping track of your collection. You can record postcards you have received through any source: official postcard exchanges, direct swaps, meetups, shops, friends, or any other way.
Cardzilla does not require you to receive or send a postcard through the platform before you can add it to your collection. The purpose of Series is to help you manage your collection, regardless of how you obtain your postcards.
Each postcard in a series can be in one of three states:
These states let you distinguish between postcards you are still looking for, postcards that are on their way, and postcards you have already collected.
As you receive new postcards, update their states to keep your collection accurate. Cardzilla will use this information to show your progress through the series.
For every series, you can see which postcards you have collected and how far you are from completing the collection.
This is particularly useful for large series. Instead of keeping a separate list or trying to remember which postcards you already own, you can use Cardzilla to maintain an up-to-date record of your collection.
You can also mark a series as one you are actively collecting. This determines whether your interest in the series and your collection progress are visible to other users.
Each series has an option labelled I'm collecting this series.
If you enable this option, the series will appear in the relevant section of your public Cardzilla profile. Other users will be able to see that you are collecting the series and view your progress.
This can be a useful way to share your collecting interests with other postcard enthusiasts and show how close you are to completing a collection.
If you leave the option disabled, your collection remains private. You can still record your postcards and track your progress, but this information will be visible only to you and will not appear in your public profile.
You can use Series purely as a personal collection tracker or share your collecting progress with the Cardzilla community. The choice is yours.
Are you an artist, publisher, or postcard creator who has designed a series of postcards? You can help make Cardzilla's series catalog as accurate and useful as possible.
Series creators can administer their own series on Cardzilla, helping ensure that the catalog contains the correct postcard images, accurate descriptions, and reliable information about each card.
This is especially important for series with many postcards, or for collections where each postcard has specific details that collectors need to know.
If you have created a postcard series and would like to manage it on Cardzilla, please contact our support team. We will help you get started.
Whether you are building your first postcard collection or working toward completing a series you have been collecting for years, Series can help you stay organized and see your progress at a glance.
Register on Cardzilla, find a series that interests you, and start recording your collection. Your postcards do not have to come from Cardzilla exchanges. Every postcard you obtain can bring you one step closer to completing your series.
