About
Greetings from Madrid, Desirée speaking!

I enjoy reading, writting short stories and knitting/crocheting while watching TV series. I love theatre plays and crafts workshops, playing boardgames (Trivial, Cluedo, Scrabble), making puzles and filling sudokus. I've a soft spot for black swans (many years not fitting in, like poor ugly duckling), lavender fields (they connect with my dad's village), owls & olive trees (they remind me of my favourite Greek goddess, Athena). I am an admirer of Leonid Afremov's paintings.

Foreign culture fascinates me. I would like to see where you're writing from. Far away places spark my curiosity! How is it, living in your country/city? Show/tell me a special tradition, typical food or dance, regional attire, famous monuments, your favourite spot or activity. Anything you find interesing or cool to share, anything that opens a window towards what I've never seen. Personal details (hobby, memory, favourite book/song) are treasured. I love to imagine the character and life of others. I look forwards to getting a glimpse of yours, thanks to your postcard!

I prefer the message to the vessel (decorations are appreciated but not so much as text).

I studied Law and I'm preparing to be a judge. Not an easy task though: it requires tons of sacrifice (never-ending studying), preventing me from travelling as much as I'd like to. Help me see the world while at home! 🐌📬🌍

✨️ I like postcards which show monuments (town or nature related from your city/country) in a not realistic way, meaning... reinterpretations by illustrators (I agree with Ray Bradbury: "you have to inject yourself with a little fantasy every day, not to die of reality"). The elegant, the pretty, the artsy. Vibrant colours, old photographs, cute drawings, hand-painted pictures (e.g. watercolours).

✨️ Collections: World Fashion, Julia Gash, Max&Oscar and Blue Cat World Trip sent from origin.

Inge Löök and Moomins (Finland)

Tabineko (Japan)

✨️ More tips: Christmas (in December), World Postcard Day (in October), Postcrossing Meet-ups, illustrated maps, local (where you live), breathtaking landscapes and retro/vintage-looking travel ad/poster postcards (like Olivia Samuel's). Maxicards and unconventional ones are great too (e.g. die cuts with strange shapes, different materials like cork, cooper or wood or DIY drawings)

Please,

✨️ write the date and place where you are writing from (especially if the image doesn't tell).

✨️ a beautiful stamp would be great (I'm a collector).

✨️ I prefer no envelopes.

✨️ if you add a few words in your mother tongue it'd be delightful.
