It's time for your first postcard!

It’s wonderful that you’ve decided to send your very first postcard! Before anything else, make sure you have a postcard, ideally a few, with different themes. Not a digital image, but a real paper postcard you can hold in your hand.

You’ll also need postage stamps, which you can usually buy in advance. Or, you can take your signed postcard (with the recipient’s address already written on it) to your local post office, where a postal worker can help you choose the correct stamp for the destination country.

Now it’s time to choose a recipient. In the main site menu, find the "Postcards" section, then choose "Send a postcard" from the dropdown menu. The site will offer you a few potential recipients.

You can view each user's profile, read about their interests, see which postcards they like, and check their recent activity. Pay attention to the date of their last activity and the number of postcards they’ve already received. If someone has been active recently and has received many cards, that’s a good sign: they’re more likely to check their mailbox soon and register your card quickly

It’s also helpful to look at the recipient’s country page, you’ll see how many postcards from your country have been delivered there and how long they usually take to arrive.

Once you choose a recipient, the site will show you their full postal address and a unique postcard ID number. Take your postcard, write a personal message, include the postcard ID, carefully copy the mailing address, and attach the correct stamp(s).

If possible, take a photo of the front of the postcard and upload it on your postcards page. You can upload the photo later while the postcard is on its way, but it’s better not to postpone it, try to do it right away!

Now all that’s left is to drop it in a mailbox or take it to the post office. Happy mailing!
